Dorothy Moorman, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2010, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Mark Osterhaus. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 5:30 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two sisters, Wilma Davis of Cedar Rapids and Viola Klein of Manchester.
Dorothy was born May 25, 1929, in Delhi, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Frances (Haas) Moorman. She worked in supermarkets most of her life, including MeToo and SunMart. Dorothy loved to play bingo, listening to the radio, taking care of flowers, and had good luck winning contests. She also had a love for animals, especially dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Harold, Leo, Gerald, Vincent, Jerome, and Thomas Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Malone, Lorene Quint, and Lucile Becker.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
A special thank you to the staff and nurses at Hospice of Mercy for the care and compassion they provided Dorothy.
