Biography

David Roy Grapes, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, February 22, 2010. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. William Harnish. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two brothers, Duane (Bev) Lentner and Richard (Jane) Grapes; sister, Connie Schmitz; and many nieces and nephews.
David was born November 9, 1943, in Dysart, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Wilma (Wentz) Grapes. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. David worked for Wilson/Farmstead Foods for 29 years and then as a cab driver for Century Cab. He enjoyed hunting, mushrooming, and traveling to Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather, Ray Dixon.
