Alfy, aka Buddha, Foofy, and Alfmeister was born April 16, 1965, to Alfred and Betty (Coonfare) Hall in Cedar Rapids. Over the years, he worked on cars, radio towers, and water towers with his dad. Alfy's true passion was music often heard saying, 'If the music is too loud, you're too old!' He played drums in his younger days and would cruise 1st Avenue in his brown and white Oldsmobile Cutlass playing loud thumping music. He also loved Chevy trucks and was a master at shining vehicles, boats, and jet skis with his own personal cocktail he called his 'Ancient Chinese Secret'.
Later in life he had a special bond with his nephew, Ethan. Alfy loved introducing him to video games, music, fine arts and watching lots of movies together. Family was so important to Alfy, especially when he worked alongside his dad.
Our lives were like the weather, constantly changing. We always came back together, in those moments, Alfy will live in our future days as we incorporate his gifts into future generations.
So with a heavy heart, we send him to gain his halo and wings in heaven. We love you Alfy!
We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services – Cedar Rapids
I went to school with Alfie. I can remember going to his parents home he would answer the door and off I go to watch him play the drums with his stereo blasting. I am so sorry for your loss.
That’s really cool you got to see him play the drums!
Worked with Al for a long time and always cherished our friendship. He always made me laugh
Thank You for everything!
I enjoyed visiting Al when he was at ManorCare. What a delightful man with such a welcoming smile! He certainly had the gift of gab ! God bless him and his family. Ann Bader
Thank You
So sorry to hear about Al’s passing. I got to know him a bit after I met him when he was at Manor Care. What a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. We all had a lot of laughs listening to him tell stories from his life. We’ll miss you Al. Kevin Bader
He had some great stories!
So sorry to hear of Alfy passing. You could set your clock by him in the morning when he went to work with his truck and loud stereo. Our sympathy to you. Ed and Nancy McBurney
He used to wake me up by turning the stereo all the way up my younger years!
