Facilities
We pride ourselves on making our facility feel like a second home — a true place for peace, comfort, and warmth. Our facility is equipped to provide you and your family only the very best and we invite you to explore all that we have to offer.

Cedar Rapids
In a time of loss and grief, it's nice to be home. Our Cedar Rapids location was built as a family home in 1908, and now serves the community as a place to come together and remember those who have passed since 1958. Garage and selection room additions were added at that time followed by a large chapel completed in 1985. The original woodwork including pocket doors and detailed staircase can still be found in well-maintained condition. Many families comment on how comfortable it feels because it reminds them of home, not a big institutional building.
A large gather space comfortably seats 130 people for services, but the openness allows for versatility to various configurations. There are several televisions available for showcasing video tributes filled with your personal photos and the latest in sound equipment to play special music.
Family lounges are available to serve food and refreshments. We are happy to help with caterering and special requests. All events at our facility include beverage service that includes, lemonade or iced tea, water, and use of a Keurig gourmet coffee machine.

Marion
Our Marion location began as St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was thoughtfully converted to a funeral home. Additional updates were completed in 2018, and the facility was renamed as the Stewart Baxter Community Life Center. The venue is quaint and attracts many families who want a more intimate environment and not a large institutional style building. The open and versatile space allows for a variety of configurations such as rows of chairs for a formal service or round table and chair for a more casual event. There is a television for viewing video tributes and tables and easels for displaying favorite memorabilia and photos.
A kitchenette is available adjacent to the gathering area. We are more than happy to help coordinate the ordering and set-up of food and beverages. All events at our facility include beverage service consisting of lemonade, water, and coffee.

Mount Vernon
In 2015, Stewart Baxter acquired the Morgan Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Denny & Mary Morgan retired after many years of service to the surrounding communities. The facility was built by the Morgan's in 1999, and can seat 150 people for a service or celebration. Seating may be set in rows for a formal service or in a more casual style for sharing and conversing. Many families also take advantage of the welcome space for serving food during events. An adjoining family lounge encourages family and friends to share food and provides space for kids activities.
The audio visual equipment has been updated to provide options for video tributes, special music, and recording services to share with those who can't make it to a service. The funeral directors at Stewart Baxter are experts at helping families remember and celebrate lives of loved ones.
